2015 Summer Reading Program
"EVERY HERO HAS A STORY"
A special program for readers of all ages:
Sign up now!

READING LOGS age 4 - 13 and TIME LOGS age 14-18 and 19+ all due back June 30 before 7 pm.

Pre-School Pals aged 4 - 6:  June 8, 15, 22, 29 (Mondays) 10:30 - 11 a.m.
Includes stories, rhymes, finger-plays, songs or games.  For the first ten book read, each child will receive a reading certificate.  Every subsequent ten books recorded in their READING LOG allows each reader to put a ticket in for the prize drawings July 2.

Ready Readers aged 7 - 9:  June 8, 15, 22, 29 (Mondays) 11:15 a.m. - 12 noon. 
Includes stories, rhymes or games.  Each registered reader receives a reading certificate for the first three hours of reading.  The reader is entered for the prize drawings July 2 for every subsequent three hours read and recorded in their TIME LOG.

Preteens aged 10 - 13:  June 9, 16, 23 30 (Tuesdays) 11 a.m. - 12 noon.   
Includes stories, activities or games.  Each registered reader receives a reading certificate for the first three hours of reading.  The reader is entered for the prize drawings July 2 for every subsequent three hours read and recorded in their TIME LOG.


All readers must record books or hours read in their READING LOG or TIME LOG to qualify for a chance at the prizes displayed in rotunda cases.  This assortment of exciting age-appropriate prizes will be awarded to readers aged 4 - 13 whose tickets are drawn at
11 am on July 2 at the party in the library meeting room.  To qualify for the party, all Pre-School Pals, Ready Readers and Preteens must attend at least two summer reading programs. 

Note:  Children who DO record books in their reading logs but CANNOT attend any programs can still qualify for the drawing of prizes displayed in the rotunda cases (winners notified by phone)!


To qualify for the special perfect attendance grand prizes of a bike, each reader age 4-13 must register and attend all four programs.   There will be three grand prizes awarded.

Teens aged 14 -18 and adults 19+

Each registered reader receives a drawing entry for the first three hours of reading.  The reader is entered for the prize drawings July 9 for every subsequent three hours read and entered in their TIME LOG (winners notified by phone)!
iTune cards will be awarded Teens' names drawn.  Adult prizes 19+ include a weekend at River Rim Resort, dinner for two at Vasquez and a dinner for two at the Uvalde Country Club.

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT FOR SATURDAY
JUNE 13, 2015


A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 13th in
Montell,  Texas for
Cecil Davis. 
El Progreso Memorial Library will be closed from 10am--1pm and reopen from 1pm until 5 pm on that day only to allow library staff to attend the service and
celebration of Coot's life with Virginia and the Davis Family.

FLAG DAY OBSERVANCE

Please join us for a special Flag Day Observance at El Progreso Memorial Library on Sunday,
June 14th at 2 pm.  There will be a short program
beginning at 2 pm in the Library Rotunda and
ending with the raising of the American and Texas Flags on the historic flag pole at the
intersection of Park and West Main.  Light
refreshments hosted by the Friends of the Library will be offered in the Meeting Room following the flag raising and pledges of allegiance.
