Library Card Use:
A patron must present a current Uvalde County Library System card in order to check out materials. To obtain a library card, a patron must be 6 years of age or older and must complete the Application for Borrower's Privileges. Proof of residency in Texas is required. A Texas Driver's License or other ID shall be requested at the time of registration. Your card is good at El Progreso Memorial Library, Sabinal Public Library and Utopia Memorial Library.
Circulation Limits and Loan Periods:
Patrons may have a maximum of 10 items checked out at one time. No more than 2 videos or DVDs can be checked out at one time.
Audio visual equipment may be checked out for one week. Equipment must be reserved in advance. There will be a fine for equipment that is not returned on time.
Books and audio-books may be checked out for 3 weeks.
Videocassettes and DVDs may be checked out for 3 days.
Overdue Fines:
Fines for videocassettes and DVDs are $1.00 per day.
All other materials are $0.10 per day.
Borrowing privileges will be denied if the patron has fines of $3.00 or more. This includes computer usage.
Overdue notices are sent when materials are one week overdue.
Computer Use:
Patrons under the age of 18 must have parental permission to use computers. Children who do not have permission to use other computers may check out educational game computers with a valid library card.
Internet/Word Processing computers have a 1 hour time limit.
Game computers have a 30 minute time limit.
There is a limit of one person to a computer. Computers must be turned in when requested. Failure to comply with these or any other library rules or laws will cause suspension of computer
